Feedback from Owatonna

What are your overall impressions of the Weekend Consultation?

  • Very Good - thankful for talents shared with us
  • I am impressed with the amount of material we were able to learn quickly. It was wonderful to have your help with the musical direction. I appreciated your willingness to share your talents & knowledge.
  • I very much appreciated the Friday night sharing of information on equipment.
  • Great! I would prefer to separate the History portion to Friday night and spend Saturday AM with voice lessons and music then a break and something for kids.
  • Sean's enthusiasm is great. Loved the background info on Martin Luther, etc.
  • Very good content. Good Shepherd was not adequately prepared for this session. This led to higher stress and less enjoyment than might have been. As it was, the experience was only "fair" to "average".

How would you rate the presenter in the following areas (5= Excellent to 1= Poor)

  • Knowledge of Topics Presented
  • Ability to Hold Your Interest
  • Organization / Structure
  • Music Selection
  • Worship Leading
  • Sensitivity to Your Worship Style
  • Ability to Answer Questions

What areas could have been improved?

  • I would have liked to have heard the songs before but I realize with our time frame that was not possible
  • Enjoyed all parts I experienced. Thanks.
  • I enjoyed stretching and the challenge of music selected but my concern was for Jacob and Steve who were so willing and trying so heard that perhaps one or two more familiar and easier selections would have encouraged them and made them more comfortable in their participation.
  • We probably should not have included our two 12 years olds and one 10 year old,
  • Preparation of materials and sensitivity to attendees level of instrumentation.
  • Charts & tape should have been sent out 2-4 weeks in advance of the weekend to allow people to practice and prepare (at least for core worship team) This would have lowered stree and allowed time for other instrumentalists to play also.

What areas were the strongest?

  • His skills with music
  • Your knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Instruction and Worship Leading
  • All great.
  • Worship leading, knowledge, Interesting - strong areas because of Sean's enthusiasm.
  • Worship 101 was very good since it was practical information. Vocal technique was also good since it involved us.

Would you recommend this presenter to other churches? Why?

  • Yes. He includes humor and makes his presentation real to everyone - especially involving the youth who attended.
  • Yes. I appreciated the focus on worship. Wanting to perform well - being emphasized as appropriate without any suggestion of perfectionism. The emphasis, to me, appeared to be on letting the Spirit work through us.
  • Yes.
  • Yes
  • Yes. It is good for understanding our Lutheran heritage and challenging our man-made traditions and comfort zones.
  • Yes, with adequate advance preparation, this could be an outstanding experience. A core worship team needs to be able to adequately prepared for the weekend in order to realize the full benefit of having Sean come.

Are there any churches you could list that may be interested in hosting AWAKEN ministry personnel?

  • Cross Lutheran - Dan Gilbert - Yorkville IL

Additional Comments

  • Thanks for sharing with us and casting a vision for what we can become with God's help. Thanks for including in your prayer the definition of traditionalism: following the ways created by man rather than having a focus on God's leading. I had never looked at it this way.
  • Thanks, Sean for your help. It's too bad we can't keep you.
  • I would suggest having all materials and music copied and ready to roll when the day begins. I felt it interrupted the flow and lengthened the day.
  • Be sure church gets music/tape in advance or be clear about the experience level you need at the time of rehearsal. Also ask for copies to be made before Workshop.
  • It was wonderful meeting you. Thanks for your service. God's blessings.
  • Sean, you are a talented young man serving the Lord well. Please stree the importance of advance preparation with your church contacts. If you can provide them with charts & tapes, ask them to commit to preparing core worship team members by getting them familiar with the music (even if only by tape) Good Shepherd team members were not even aware they were participating in Sunday's service. That is due to our poor internal communication, not your fault. I hope we are able to have you come back some time when we can prepare. Also, please try to give all people a chance to participate. I realize that was not practical today, since we were not prepared (i.e. we needed to focus on preparing for the Sunday service). Keep up the great work!
