What are your overall impressions of the
Weekend Consultation?
-
Very informative and insightful
-
Great! Very helpful! I wish more
from our church could have been here.
-
I was looking
for info on 1) what is “Contemporary
Music” 2) How it is done 3) How can
it not be a show but participation and
worship, etc – Good job in addressing
these issues
-
Very informative
-
Helpful for those wanting to begin
or improve contemporary worship
-
This consultation
was very beneficial. I learned
many things – spiritual
and musical – that I could take
back to my congregation.
-
Great program
-
Excellent introduction to alternative
worship forms. I appreciated especially
emphasis on prayer and commitment.
-
Very useful for a church exploring
or planning a contemporary service.
-
I was impressed by your willingness
to answer questions, not just talk
about your
formula
-
It was very helpful.
-
I appreciated the emphasis on God
not just playing music.
-
Very helpful. Thanks for the emphasis
on prayer.
-
Excellent – attuned
to LCMS contemporary music needs.

What areas could have been improved?
- None
- More time between sessions
to “network” with
other church people
- None
- (a Pastor said): More
time for questions, less time history
of worship and more emphasis
on present and future. Too much “preaching
to the choir”
- None
- Excellent program
- Maybe make sections
shorter so topics can be very specific – even
thought he sessions had different
titles, we seemed
to talk about the same topics.
- More discussion of non-musical elements
in the service (how to handle closed
communion for seekers) (*I E-Mailed this
guy to ask
him what his specific question was,
as it seemed so general)
- None
- I would have liked the voice lesson
to be longer (it was only 30 minutes)
It was
fun!!
- Have sections titled 1) How to get
started 2) How to keep it going 3) How
to not turn
off the congregation, presenting them
in order.
- I would like to have more printed notes
from the session on Women.
What areas were the strongest?
- Liked the “Luther to the Future” presentation – helped
put things into context
- Knowledge of sound and feedback of
the kindest sort
- Small group sessions
done by Julie, Seminar 1B (Keyboard)
and 2B (God’s Crucial
Role for Women)
- Vocal basics – helpful insights – well
presented. Women’s crucial role – very
helpful to females from our church (*This
from a Pastor who invited himself to
be the only guy in an all-Female workshop)
- Everything was great
- Worship 101 is excellent – helped
me understand my role as Worship Leader
- Discussion of musical elements.
- Question and Answer session with Julie
(*This was new. Julie split out with
non-worship team members to answer questions
for 2
hours while Sean rehearsed Praise Team.
VERY POSITIVE reaction.)
- I likes the “Worship: Enter His
Presence” presentation because
of the reasons that were given for reasons
to worship in different ways being okay.
- Dynamics of worship, role of worship
team
- I found Julie’s
session on keyboard extremely helpful.
- Help on new music

Additional Comments
- Thank you for a great and worshipful
experience
- Keep up the good work! I was blessed
by my time here. May God continue to
bless
your ministry
- Watching the rehearsal
was helpful for us because we’ve
been doing this for awhile. I will
be able to use some
of the rehearsal techniques during
our rehearsals (*Someone who chose
to stay
and watch rehearsal)
- Make a video of contemporary
worship at King of Kings and 3Rivers
(Julie
leads worship there) and show all or
part of
it at the seminar. A lot of people
have not been exposed to your style of
worship.
- You both are an inspiration.
To take time away from your kids
and home, come here
and bless us with your guidance. Now,
that’s
commitment! Bless you! GREAT JOB.
- Keep it going. Praise the Lord!
